Ubuntu: Like a kid again, playing in the terminal.

What?

The mind is visual. I think that can be said without much argument. So after years of using a GUI interface in some form or another the command line can seem foreign. However, learning the basic commands can help you become a more competent user, a more capable troubleshooter, and lead to a more satisfied experience.

The problem:

It’s hard.

The solution:

Keep a few cheat sheets around and refer to them as needed. My advice? Make your own. There are likely only 5-10 things you do in the command line. Mount a drive? Make a directory? Delete a file/directory? Edit a text document?

The issue is that you may not need to do them very often. This means that by the time the need arises again you’ve forgotten the command. In this way, detailing your own personal process and the commands you used can be very helpful.
